A Book for Children About Positive, Caring Kinds of Touching

by Lory Freeman

illustrated by Carol Deach

Healthy, productive living includes loving, human touch. It heals, soothes, nurtures, and affirms the self. Without loving touch, infants and children fail to thrive; adults shrivel. This book teaches children how to ask for and give loving touches. They also learn how to respect their own and others' bodies. Warm and affirming. Useful for 3 - 8 years

My three-year-old asks for this book every night, and the simple illustrations really help her understand the difference between a safe hug and a not-okay touch. The gentle, reassuring tone makes a tough topic feel very natural to discuss.

We’ve read it every night for two weeks and the kids still want more, which says a lot. The illustrations by Carol Deach really help my four-year-old grasp the concept of safe touch without it feeling awkward. Just wish it had a few more pages, but it’s done its job.
